Steve Douglas

Now in his fifth year as an assistant coach on the Langley Junior Varsity, Steve Douglas is a native of the Washington area.  He played baseball at Falls Church High School and at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana before shoulder problems ended his career.  After graduating from Indiana in 1969, he spent three years in the US Army including one year in Vietnam.  In 1973 he joined the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and for the next 27 years worked in various capacities including bank examiner, bank liquidator and contract oversight executive.  During this period, he lived and worked in eight different cities throughout the US from the east to the west coast including two years in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

He has run 13 marathons:  eleven Marine Corps, one New York City and one Dallas (White Rock).  Now retired he continues to play softball in senior leagues in Northern Virginia and plays on a travel team that plays one or two tournaments a month all around the country from March to November.

Coach Douglas is married and has a daughter who plays violin in the Freshman Orchestra at Langley.
